American military intervention will not deter Assad... This argument is not persuasive...

From the beginning, I have thought that Assad's wife should be targeted for aiding and abetting monstrosity.
Often, women are more susceptible to shame than men.
If pressure were strong enough - and sustained enough - Asma might take Bashir by the scruff of his neck and say "Shame on you!"
(I think women could apply this pressure more effectively than men.)

At minimum, she might sleep in another bed.
Worked for Lysistrata.

American military intervention will not deter Assad but will create the climate for regional disaster, wider conflict, war between Israel and Iran, and millions more of refugees. Hatred of America will increase. Terrorists will recruit hundreds even thousands of willing suicide warriors. Cyber attacks will devastate global commerce. The consequences of war are unpredictable and almost anything can go wrong.

That is an argument against American military intervention. But it is not persuasive. Because everything can go wrong whether we make a military response or not.
