If I have not yet shared the following post (based on the Timothy Snyder book CC mentions) I think you'll be interested. http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/2017/04/yale-history-professor-reviews-20th.html
And here is a follow-up post in which I examine the role of conservative Christians in the fraying of American democracy. http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/2017/04/follow-up-yale-professor-reviews-20th.html

Tx chuck.
I'm now halfway done Timothy Snyder's On Tyranny - 20 lessons from the 20th Century
Very short but it's got eerily parallel stories from multiple, mostly European, democracies that were just "given" to tyrants by pliant citizens - who did not recognize that one particular vote (often for the eventual tyrant) was to be the last free and fair vote in their lifetimes.
I'm very glad YOU are not suffering the fatal disease of complacency!!

Trump's best cabinet appointee is a pretty low bar, but she did support albeit momentarily lgbtq rights before caving
