Email Exchange With Trump Supporter Concerning Inaugural Crowd Size

Aerial shots of the crowds at the 2009 and 2017 inaugurations. 2009 is much, much bigger.

The Official Photos Prove That Trump's Inaugural Crowd Was YUUUGELY Smaller Than Obama's
(although Trump and his administrative staff declared, unequivocally -- contemptuous of naysayers -- that Donald's inaugural crowd was "the biggest ever. Period!"

The number of people who "watched" the inauguration is not the point. The point is that Trump's original claim was that "the crowd" "looked like a million and a half people" and "went all the way back to the Washington Monument." This claim, made on January 21st is not just a lie but a brazen, in-your-face lie of a kind that typifies Trump and his administration.

To clear the air, Trump and his spokesmen claimed that the inaugural crowd on The National Mall was the largest ever, when -- as you can see in the National Park Service photos below -- that crowd was embarrassingly small.

Then, two days after Trump's shameful falsehood, Sean Spicer supplied a distracting rationalization by claiming that "more people watched" Trump's inauguration than any other presidential inauguration.

This distraction is not the point.

Nor is it the point that Trump's approval rating just declined to 37% - while 58% of Americans disapprove.

The point is that Trump lied about the crowd size on The National Mall - a crowd that was in fact laughably small.

VIDEO: Trump Tells More Lies Than Any U.S. Politician. Why Do Patriots & Xtians Believe A Liar?

Alan: What follows is my email exchange (in reverse order) with a fellow user of ImgFlip, my online meme creation service.

Here is the "blow by blow" description of Trump's "crowd size falsehood":

"The crowd-size controversy began on Saturday, Jan. 21, a day after the inauguration, when President Trump claimed the media had misrepresented the number of people attending his inauguration. Trump spoke at CIA headquarters and said that “one of the networks” had shown “an empty field,” while he saw a crowd that “looked like a million-and-a-half people” and “went all the way back to the Washington Monument.”

Trump claimed that “we caught [the media] in a beauty, and I think they’re going to pay a big price.”

Spicer then read a prepared statement later that day, further criticizing the media for “dishonesty.”

Spicer, Jan. 21: "Secondly, photographs of the inaugural proceedings were intentionally framed in a way, in one particular tweet, to minimize the enormous support that had gathered on the National Mall. We know that from the platform where the president was sworn in, to 4th Street, it holds about 250,000 people. From 4th Street to the media tent is about another 220,000. And from the media tent to the Washington Monument, another 250,000 people. All of this space was full when the president took the oath of office. We know that 420,000 people used the D.C. Metro public transit yesterday, which actually compares to 317,000 that used it for President Obama’s last inaugural. This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration — period — both in person and around the globe."

Photos of the crowd, including one taken at 12:01 p.m. from the top of the Washington Monument, clearly show that the crowd witnessing Trump’s inauguration didn’t extend all the way to the monument. Metro’s figures for both 11 a.m., a half-hour before the inauguration ceremony began, and for the full day show fewer trips taken this year than for past inaugurations."

Alan: Here is the "user comment" that prompted my reply above:

31 million watched on network TV.

They fail to report that over 21 million watched the live streams on the internet because that would show just how quickly network television's influence has collapsed.

And NO I refuse to count CNN Fake News Networks 16.9 million live stream viewers even though that would up the count even more.

We all know that many don't even bother with TVs anymore and live stream to other devices. So what about all of those viewers? Below are listed complete coverage live stream (6-8 hrs) from YT that had more than 1 million viewers ..... another 20.6 million
