She tells the story of the American people with fearless passion and conviction. This week the very much admired Senator Elizabeth Warren (Dem-Mass) visited with talk show host Stephen Colbert, who continuously pressed Sen. Warren to give an endorsement for Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton. Sen. Warren talks about the issues facing America today and how both candidates (and Democrats) are doing a great job of sticking to those issues in political campaigns. Does she favor one candidate over the other? You be the judge.
Colbert and Sen. Warren also banter about Republican disaster Donald Trump and at one point Colbert compares Sen. Warren to Trump. Oh, yes he did. And her answers are intelligent, funny, informative, and endearing.
Here is the video followed by a full transcript. I usually give excerpts when transcribing, but with this discussion, every word is a morsel is goodness.

Transcript

Colbert: My next guest is one of the most popular members of the United States Senate. Please welcome, Senator Elizabeth Warren. Welcome back. Always so good to talk with you. You are so passionate about the things you believe in. Last time we were together was in September. There was a lot of speculation at the time that, uh, Vice President Biden might be running for the president, you might be running for the presidency. But you did not jump in. Are you surprised how well Bernie Sanders had done in his head to head against Secretary Clinton?
Warren: Look. What’s going on right now is that there’s a lot of hurting out there among the American people. People who work hard, who play by the rules, are having a really hard time getting ahead. Washington is not working for them. And I think Bernie Sanders gets out there and makes that case. I think Hillary Clinton gets out there and makes that case, and I’m glad to see it! (APPLAUSE).
Colbert: Now, Bernie is calling for a “revolution.” Hillary Clinton is not calling for a revolution. She believes that slow and steady kind of changes the D.C. That’s the impression I get from her. Which one appeals to you more, Elizabeth Warren?
Warren: Look, let’s be clear about where the differences are, ‘cause this is what I really love seeing. Democrats are out there fighting over the things that affect America’s families. So for example, 70% of young people today have to go borrow money in order to go to college. So, between Secretary Clinton and Senator Sanders, they’re talking about should it be free college or debt-free college. God Bless. That’s the right place to have the discussion. (CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Colbert: My question for you is, so many people wanted you to run for president. You’re kind of like a “combo platter.” (CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) Even the things you’re saying. You’re like a combo platter of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. You’re like the “Vultron Candidate.” You’re like a combination. Don’t you wish you had jumped in and been part of the mix here?
Warren: So, look. Every single day I get out there and do what the people of Massachusetts sent me to do. I’m fighting for working families. I’m fighting to hold people’s feet to the fire. I’m fighting for more cops on Wall Street. I’m fighting for our students. I’m fighting for our seniors. God, this is a fabulous job! Who could ask for more?
Colbert: You say you want more cops on Wall Street. Do you — You’ve got some things in common with the leading Republican candidate Donald Trump… (LAUGHTER) And I’ll move my pen away from you so it doesn’t scare you. Both of you feel the guys on Wall Street are getting away with stuff they shouldn’t. You say you want to tax the hedge fund guys. He thinks they’re getting away with murder.
Warren: Let’s be real clear. (LAUGHTER) Donald Trump is looking out for exactly one guy, and that guy’s name is Donald Trump. (CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) That’s — that’s the deal. So, look, he smells there’s change in the air. And what he wants to do is make sure that that change works really, really well for Donald Trump.
Colbert: He’s says he’s won his whole life. He wins, wins, and wins. But now he wants to win for America. We’re going to “win so much we’re going to get tired of winning.” Why don’t you want — Why-don’t-you-want-us-to-win? (LAUGHTER)
Warren: This is the deal. You gotta kind of look a little closer at Donald Trump. Because this is his main claim to how it is that he says he’s qualified to be president of the United States.
Colbert: He’s a winner.
Warren: He says in business he wins, wins, and wins. Well, the truth is, he inherited a fortune from his father.
Colbert: A small million-dollar loan.
Warren: Yeah, yeah, right. He inherited a fortune from his father. He kept it going by cheating and defrauding people. (CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) And then, through Chapter 11.
Colbert: He never broke the law. He’s never broken he law. He’s merely taken advantage.
Colbert: Listen, we don’t know. That’s his M.O. (method of operation) Remember, remember… Be careful, “rubber glue” — he’s got a lawyer and he’ll sue! He’ll come after you!
Warren: Right. But, look, that’s the heart of it. Donald Trump knows there’s a change, and the question is so what’s going to happen from that? We have an economy that’s in real trouble. But when the economy is in this kind of trouble, calling on Donald for help is like —  if your house is on fire and calling an arsonist to come help out. (CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) Donald Trump is part of the people that caused this problem.
Colbert: You have had a flame war — speaking of arson — with Donald Trump. You have tweeted a few things. You’ve gone on the warpath here. You’ve tweeted, “Let’s be honest @RealDonaldTrump is a loser. Count all his failed businesses.” (CHEERS AND APPLAUSE as Colbert reads some of Warren’s tweets saying he’s dangerous and a fraud)
Colbert: Aren’t you — some would say why get down? Why are you getting down in the schoolyard with Donald Trump? Isn’t that just name calling?
Warren: Oh, look, come on. This isn’t name-calling. This is taking the credential that he claims he’s running on, and his business success and saying, “No, Buster - we’re not buying that”. He’s not a business success. He’s a business loser. (CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Colbert: He’s a rich guy. He’s still a rich guy.
Warren. You inherit that kind of fortune from your father…
Colbert: He didn’t get $10 billion from his dad. I gotta defend my friend Donald, here.
Warren: You know what some of the analysts have said. If all the money he inherited from his dad was put in index fund, he would be as rich as he was today. He wasn’t out there doing fabulous deals. He started out rich. He cheated his way to getting richer. That's not going to build an America for hardworking people. He’s going to leave them in the dirt like he’s left everybody else in the dirt. (CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Colbert: You’ve got a new edition of your biography A Fighting Chance with a new afterward here. It’s a great book. Before we let you go, who — who are you going to endorse, Hillary or Bernie? And feel free to give me a variety of non-answers. Who are you going for, Hillary or Bernie?
Warren: Look. Right now...
Colbert: Oh boy.
Warren:  The Democrats are doing exactly what we should be doing — we’re out talking about the issues that affect hard working families, student loans, social security, more cops on Wall Street, Trade…
Colbert: If Hillary doesn’t get it, should Hillary people vote for Bernie? And If Bernie doesn’t get it, should Bernie people vote for Hillary?
Warren: Totally yes! Both ways. You bet.
Colbert: Thank you so much for being here. A Fighting Chance Senator Elizabeth Warren.
