Most Hen Houses Are Now Cage-Free

Alan: I am increasingly aware that a quarter to a third of most populations cling to the status quo because they are profoundly unsettled -- and often terrified -- by the prospect of change.

To justify their fearfulness, the terminally timid denounce change on economic grounds, saying it will be costly, curtail jobs and limit growth.

The following report on cage-free hen houses reviews the rapid transition from "nay-saying freak-out" to nearly universal satisfaction, the increased cost of an egg being a little over a penny.
