Bernie: Bill Clinton's Past Sexual Misconduct Was "Totally Disgraceful." Then Sanity Sets In

Alan: In the following article, Sanders condemns Bill Clinton's past behavior and then does what American conservatives are incapable of.

He lets go.

Not forgetting the wrongs Bill committed -- but recognizing the impossibility of staying afloat when one's "pockets" are stuffed with debris -- he jettisons the dead weight of the past.

"Look, Hillary Clinton is not Bill Clinton... I am running against Hillary Clinton, not Bill Clinton."

Since 1992, when Bill Clinton first ran for The Oval Office, American conservatives have been obsessed with the man.

Unable to recognize their own shortcomings -- or those of their hero, Ronald Reagan -- they have tried to tar Hillary with a brush more appropriately applied to Dutch.

Washington (CNN) Bernie Sanders said Friday that former President Bill Clinton's past sexual misconduct was "totally disgraceful and unacceptable."
Appearing at a town hall in Toledo, Iowa, on Friday, Sanders responded to an attendee who said that Hillary Clinton isn't qualified to be president because or her support for her husband.
"Look, Hillary Clinton is not Bill Clinton," Sanders said. "But what Bill Clinton did was totally, totally, totally disgraceful and unacceptable. But I am running against Hillary Clinton, not Bill Clinton."
Sanders added that this campaign should be about the issues, not Bill Clinton's sex life.
"And I believe and I gotta say this, and I thank you for your question, in this sense, I think what we need to do as a nation, certainly something the Republicans are not doing, is focus on the bloody issues facing this country -- the disappearance of the middle class income and wealth inequality," Sanders said.

Bill Clinton's past has resurfaced as an issue in Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign after Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump made an effort in recent weeks to highlight the scandals of the 1990s. Hillary Clinton answered a question last month about her husband's alleged sexual impropriety, saying sexual abuse victims "should be believed" until evidence disproves their allegations.
Bill Clinton passed up an opportunity Thursday to hit back at Trump over recent attacks on the former president's past infidelities.
"I have no interest in getting involved in (Republican Party) politics or doing anything except working to help Hillary," Clinton told reporters in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
"Donald Trump says a lot of things," he added dismissing the billionaire.
