Harvard's Steve Pinker Notes Slight Uptick In Violence In A Much More Peaceful World
The new selection in Mark Zuckerberg's bookclub has been unveiled. The second pick in the online group, which the Facebook CEO launched at the start of the new year, is Steven Pinker'sThe Better Angels of Our Nature.
The title, published by Penguin Books in 2011, is, as of this writing, #2 in the History & Philosophy sub-category in the Kindle store, as well as in the Personality sub-category. It is #3 in the Social Psychology & Interactions category. A spokesperson from Penguin Books confirmed that the press is going back to press but, because of the announcement was just made, said there were no further details to offer yet.
Moises Naim's The End of Power, selected as the first read in Zuckerberg's bookclub, has sold nominally since its selection, moving, according to publisher Basic Books, about 13,000 copies. With new titles being announced in the group every two weeks, publishers will, as those at Basic pointed out, have a small window to move copies and benefit from the selection.
