It’s a really good show. Candace Bergen will appear in later episodes and we look forward to her verbal combat with – Denny Crain!It’s just that we got tired of those nasty violent shows, like Breaking Bad and Orange is the New Buffet Supper. You couldn’t pay me to watch a high school teacher cooking meth, or females wrestling in the penitentiary. It’s just too grim. Or even House of Cards, which is not violent but utterly, utterly cynical. The Kevin Spacey character has no redeeming virtues, making him flat and uninteresting, making his behavior quite predictable.Which leaves us with Game of Thrones, resplendent with slashing swords and gratuitous nudity. We deplore such violence but in this case we invoke the medieval exception. In other words, it’s okay because it happened in the Middle Ages with velvet costumes and prancing horses and great oaken woods – just a romping good time.
