 July 3

You don't have to be in one of the 50 states -- or the District of Columbia -- to celebrate Independence Day on Friday.

In fact, the first place to set off fireworks and fire up the grill will be Guam. And rumor has it the Virgin Islands are a fantastic place to celebrate the birth of our nation.
That's because these U.S. territories celebrate the holiday right alongside all of us -- all despite having various degrees of incorporation and voting rights in the U.S. government.
So how do all these other pieces fit into the puzzle that is the United States of America? One of our favorite YouTube users, CGP Grey, has a great video explaining it all. Enjoy, and happy Independence Day.
