After flying at half-staff for barely a day in tribute to Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), U.S. flags at the White House and many other federal properties were raised Monday morning, sparking criticism that President Trump was not properly honoring the senator.
He reversed that decision Monday afternoon.
"Despite our differences on policy and politics, I respect Senator John McCain’s service to our country and, in his honor, have signed a proclamation to fly the flag of the United States at half-staff until the day of his interment," Trump said in a statement. |

PS What sane person would re-raise the flag until John is safely in the ground? Wouldn't it be wonderful if someone (maybe Mattis) approached him and simply said: "By raising the flag now you will persuade people you're fucking nuts. Even a significant slice of your Base will peel away wondering if you finally snapped... Have you?"
PPS It is increasingly clear to me that America's Know-Nothings not only don't read, but won't read. They intuit the fragile limits of the bubble in which they live and thus remain willfully ignorant for the one thing they know is that knowledge is the final weapon of Truth. I used to listen to Rush Limbaugh just to keep my finger on the pulse - and to sharpen my wits. Although I never thought of it before, perhaps "The Thinking Housewive" has - without my realizing it - taken Limbaugh's place in my psyche's ecosystem.
