Republican Grievances About Obama's Missteps As President (Belated Post)

Inline image 1

(Georgie: I wrote this email the same day you sent me yours but obligations prevented me from reviewing it in timely fashion.)

Dear George,

It's always good to hear from you.

Thanks for forwarding Colombino's email.

Against the backdrop of The Iraq War and The Great Recession, Colo's complaints are trivial.

"Israeli War Historian, Martin van Creveld's Startling Commentary On The Iraq War"
Excerpt: "For misleading the American people, and launching the most foolish war since Emperor Augustus in 9 B.C sent his legions into Germany and lost them, Bush deserves to be impeached and, once he has been removed from office, put on trial along with the rest of the president’s men. If convicted, they’ll have plenty of time to mull over their sins." War historian Martin van Creveld is the only non-U.S. author whose writings are obligatory reading by America's Officer Corps."

George Will: "The 2003 Invasion Of Iraq Was The Worst Foreign Policy Decision In U.S. History"

Solyndra?!?

C'mon... The federal government invested $528 million dollars in Solyndra, part of a package of investments that reaped a $5 billion dollar profit. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2014-11-12/u-s-expects-5-billion-from-program-that-funded-solyndra

Hell! The Air Force spends $528 million on a hammer. ;>)

There was no better way for Colombino to damage his own argument than to resort to Solyndra as if that podunk episode had (or has) any real significance.

There cannot be much in the barrel if Colombino has to scrape Solyndra from the bottom.

Sure Solyndra went belly up.

So did Donald Trump.

4 times!

Actual Trump Quote

1.) Fast and Furious? Mingya Georgie...

Fast and Furious is less than a drop in the ocean of malfeasance perped by Bush-Cheney's bogus war in Iraq.

2.) And here's Wikipedia's concluding analysis of the 2014 VA Scandal:

Analysis by management and medical experts

Management experts said that the source of the problem was setting an unrealistic goal of a 14-day wait. This was compounded by not including provisions for measuring how well the system was working. Experts said that having high-stakes goals, especially without checks and balances, encouraged "gaming the numbers" and cheating, in the private and public sector. Managers at the Federal level should have had data about times and costs for basic services throughout the VA system. That would have identified the Phoenix facility as anomalous.[41]
Dr. Robert Roswell, a previous VA Undersecretary of Health and now Professor of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma, said that an appropriate measure of VHA performance was not patient wait times, which were largely outside the control of the staff, because VHA employees do not control the number of patients seeking care. A better measure of performance, would for example, measure the efficient use of VHA resources, such as the number of no-show appointments.[41]
Phillip Longman, author of "Best Care Anywhere: Why VA Care Would Work Better for Everyone," said after visiting VA hospitals nationwide that, as the result of veterans in New England, the Mid-Atlantic and the industrial midwest either dying or retiring to Sunbelt states, there is an imbalance of capacity, with empty beds in some VHA hospitals and waiting lists in others. Compounding this problem, more liberal eligibility standards allow veterans to get treatment for chronic conditions of aging like heart disease and Parkinson's.[95]
"Setting a benchmark of 14 days to see a new primary care doc at a VA hospital or clinic in Boston or Northern California may be completely reasonable," wrote Longman. "But trying to do the same in Phoenix and in a handful of other sunbelt retirement meccas is not workable without Congress ponying up for building more capacity there."[95]
Economics Nobel laureate Paul Krugman said that the scandal came about because conservatives didn't like the fact that the VHA system, which is "an island of socialized medicine," is working well, so they seized on wait times as “a gift from God” to discredit the VHA.[96]
"It’s still true that Veterans Affairs provides excellent care, at low cost," wrote Krugman. "Those waiting lists arise partly because so many veterans want care, but Congress has provided neither clear guidelines on who is entitled to coverage, nor sufficient resources to cover all applicants. And, yes, some officials appear to have responded to incentives to reduce waiting times by falsifying data."[96]
"Yet, on average, veterans don’t appear to wait longer for care than other Americans," wrote Krugman. "And does anyone doubt that many Americans have died while waiting for approval from private insurers?"[96]

3.) HealthCare.gov Give me a break! If all the real problems in the world were on the scale of HealthCare.gov we'd have the straightened out in a few months - just like the website got straightened out in a few months.

4.) Anti-Lobbyist Broken Promise? Since when do conservatives -- including REAL conservatives like NRA members -- complain about lobbyists?!? Sure, it was a broken promise... But does it really mean anything in the Big Picture. Or is just something to whine about because there are so few Real Issues to whine about?

On the other hand, I agree with Colombino on "IRS targeting political enemies" and "DOJ monitoring" them.

But, for the sake of perpective and proportion consider this:

Trump Is A Dangerous Enemy Of The 1st Amendment (Maybe 2nd Amendment Folk Can Help)

On the other hand...

If you knew someone who had been ripped off by Trump "University" or a worker who had been paid by The Thief, you would want to kill the sonofabitch.

And rightly so!

He's a motherfucker - a dyed-in-the-wool, life-long, certifiable mofo

He got started so early that "people say" he grabbed his mother's pussy on the way out.

In the 13th century, Thomas Aquinas observed that sin is always accompanied by "loss of proportion and perspective."

The tragedy of contemporary conservatism is that true believers dedicate their lives to myopic perspective while simultaneously ignoring proportion.

Here is how perspective and proportion "should" work: Benghazi was trivial, Beirut was A BIG DEAL.

But don't take it from me...

Check out what other Republican candidates have to say about mofo.

Please feel free to share this email with Sonny. Maybe he'd like to bet against Trump being a one-termer? You can hold the money for us.

Thanks again for keeping me in the loop.
Greetings to Mary.
