Alan: An essential feature of "the uneducated" is the presumption that culture is "simply there" - a "given" that is inspired, created and sustained by "the breath of God." In this simpleminded view, culture has no "accumulated history" so that those who believe in "the purgative power of Apocalypse" have nothing to fear from terrestrial destruction. According to the received "wisdom," the sequel to any "righteous war" will be miraculous restoration wrought by the providential Hand of God Himself. Many of "the uneducated" point to The Bible as their shield and portion. Consider, however, what "really" happened the last time earth was "purged" by divine calamity. Although The Flood was intended to cleanse our orb of all evil, the story ends with Noah's own children exhibiting greater vility than the nefarious humans who had been swept away. In effect, the purge did not end calamity but evoked a greater one. Another feature of "the uneducated" is their fierce determination to "hear" what they want to hear and to disregard the rest. Consider the original scriptural account of "calamity compounding calamity" at "Prohibition, Noah, Ham And The Curse Of Canaan."  http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/2011/11/daily-dose-111111-prohibition-and-curse.html
