The Boston Marathon Bombings, The War In Iraq And The Value Of A Human Life

Alan: Yesterday was the first anniversary of the Tsarnaev brothers devastating attack at the Boston Marathon.

The event was received nearly non-stop NPR coverage of Boston commemoratives and reflections on the horror of that infamous day when 3 people died and 264 others were injured. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_marathon_bombings

The larger frame...

During Smirk and Snarl's trumped up Whimsy War on Iraq -- which was the most significant manifestation of white terrorism since the Vietnam "Conflict" -- it is estimated that more than a million people died and many millions were injured. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_war_casualties

It is inevitable (and probably proper) that we humans are more conscious of "our own dead" than the deaths of "others."

Still, yesterday's coverage reminds us how eagerly our nation of violent extremists labors to obscure proportion and perspective in its reflections on injustice.
