Republicans Worry Trump Is Falling Into The Arms Of "Chuck And Nancy"

Alan: Consider this wild-eyed "what if."

What if Trump decides the only way to redeem his presidency from eternal opprobrium is to make a deal with Democrats that approves some form of single payer healthcare like Mediare-for-All?

For most of Trump's political life, Devious Donald has supported universal healthcare, and as recently as last year expressed enthusiasm for the federal government serving as "payer-of-last-resort."

At heart, Trump's instincts are "libertine-liberal," not "fuddy dud conservative."

As time goes on, it must also be increasingly clear to Trump that the GOP is no longer a unified party but a haphazard umbrella organization covering at least two major factions (and probably three) all of which would just as soon rip out one another's throats as Dread Hillary's.

Failure to recognize that The Republican Party has been increasingly counter-productive and self-destructive is to willfully poke one's eyes out.
