Why Are Democrats Not Calling For An End To Bush Tax Cuts?

The direct relationship between higher taxes and debt management...
... in the context of abundant and widely-distributed economic prosperity.

The GOP is chiefly interested in getting a handle on the nation's debt.

By ending the Bush tax cuts, simultaneously returning to the modest taxation levels of the boom years, the GOP's dream would not come true... but would come closer to realization than any other politically possible alternative.

Lest we forget...

In the 2012 election, Republicans never specified a list of cuts that would have significantly dented the debt.

Furthermore, Paul Ryan's budget would have accomplished no debt diminution until 2023, assuming the national debt did not explode (under Ryan's plan) as many analysts predicted.

Why is the simple, elegant expedient of letting Bush tax cuts expire not front-and-center in Democratic Party rhetoric?

"The best defense is a good offense."

Unflagging insistence on ending the Bush tax cuts would spotlight the most elegant -- and most popular -- way to make real progress on the very issue of greatest concern to Republicans.
