Alan: I have always held Jerry Brown in
high regard. A former Jesuit seminarian, he knows to 1.) envision “the good,”
and 2.) think.
During his first presidential campaign,
Brown's dismissal by right-wing ideologues as "Governor Moonbeam"
spoke volumes about their own lack of vision and ability to think.
Brown's successful budget transformation
from blood red to deep black was achieved by a necessary combination of tax
hikes and spending cuts.
And now that California confronts a
budgetary surplus, he is already thinking of restoring cut money's to necessary
social services such as education.
