Talking To The Mara Salvatrucha - superb account of gang life

MS 13 initiation - Salvador

TALKING TO THE MS-13

When he first spoke with the Mara Salvatrucha gang, also known as MS-13, anthropologist Tom Ward had no idea he would be devoting more than a decade to the work. The group has been newly designated as a "transnational criminal organization." Tom talks with Dick about the gang members he's come to know in Los Angeles and El Salvador.
