This Cycle: It's Not The Economy, It's China, Stupid
7-8 years ago, while hanging out in Puerto Morelos with Danny, we ate with the son of a former U.S. embassy official in Beijing.
The fellow was a grown man now and had retired early after making a quick fortune by speaking Chinese fluently, having connections and "knowing Chinese culture-and-ropes."
He spoke laughingly of the fake numbers China uses to "decorate" the public face of Beijing's finances, and said "it's just a matter of time" before the truth gets out and it all comes crashing down.
