FACT: Illegal Immigration Went Down During Obama's Administration; Now Rising Under Trump

Alan: The number of illegal residents in the United States during the Obama administration went from 12.5 million at the outset to 11 million at the end, including my best friend who self-deported back to Mexico.

Why illegal border crossings have increased despite Trump policies
More than a year after the inauguration of a president who promised to seal the U.S. border, something surprising is happening: The number of people entering illegally from Mexican territory has jumped. And for many migrants crossing into the U.S., their attempts are based on close analyses of Trump’s policies.

Despite Trump Adminisration Crackdown, Illegal Immigration On Southern Border Is Increasing
(over 50,000 illegals entered in each of the last 3 months)

Alan: As for The Wall...

It is a presumed panacea but in no way a real one.

Of all the United States legislators whose typically conservative districts abut the Mexican border, not one -- I repeat NOT ONE -- supports Trump's border wall. http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/330045-no-congress-members-along-mexico-border-support-funding-trumps

It is always easy to glimpse a "golden glow" from the distance.

Up close the view is more tawdry.

The presumed benefit of "throwing money at The Wall" is rooted in the same repressive conservatism that threw money at Vietnam... and Iraq... and Afghanistan, convinced those endeavors would be "cakewalks" to use the terminology of Dubyah's administratioon.

In a "golden" twinkle, those efforts would result in "Mission Accomplished."

The invasion of Iraq would take "a few months" and "liberated" oil revenues would finance the establishment of a beachhead democracy in the Arab world.

Instead, the Iraq War unraveled the world and its cost, already incalculable, contiues to rise.

And Baghdad's recently-elected leader, Muqtada al-Sadr, was Uncle Sam's nemesis in the conflict, a completely unexpected paradoxical effect of the kind that lay in wait as the predictably unpredictable fallout of The Deplorable One's administration.

And throughout Vietnam-Iraq-Afghanistan, the Military-Industrial Complex - comprised exclusively of Trump's plutocratic pals - laughed its way to the bank.

The bogus presumption that The Wall will accomplish its putative "Mission" distills to the mistaken conservative belief that "the right thing" is to pour resources into belligerent projects that "The Faithful" assume workable when, as Marshall McLuhan observed over 50 years ago: "To the spoils belongs the victor."

It is a whole new ball game.

Chest thumping ideologues have no clue how to play it.

Instead, they eagerly fight "the last war," and, true to form, are always "one war out of date."

It is also inconveniently true that whenever the demographic impulse behind mass migration is strong enough -- for example, the departure of Celts from central Europe westward, or Europeans to the New World, or the Jewish diaspora leading "everywhere" -- those movements are simply unstoppable.

If I had to guess, Trump's "Zero Tolerance" policy (had it remained in place) would soon become economically non-viable just from the cost of warehousing all the illegals.

In the next few days I will post my thoughts on the "elimination of all borders throughout the western hemisphere" as the best way to move forward, and -- as you will see -- the only way to keep global hegemony from "migrating" to China over the next 20 to 40 years.
