Purported Uses of Plantago Major In Herbal Medicine
When you pinch off a leaf of Broadleaf Plantain, the white veins visible in the picture above, tend to strip away from the lower segment of the severed stem so that inch-long white fibers dangle from the leaf you've harvested.
Broadleaf Plantain is easy to identify - all the more so by these dangling "threads."
The plant is perennial so when you find a patch in the wild, harvest it responsibly and you will have a ready source year after year.
My supply is an abundant patch on a nearby river bank.
Broadleaf Plantain is also cultivated as a garden vegetable.
