Sex: The Fire And Source Of Meaning

LOVE SEX
Dear F,

Thanks for your email.

Always the "anomalies" and "outrages" seem disproportionately important.

Yes, sex is a very hot fire.

Often, people get burned.

But this fire keeps many more people warm than it immolates.

And through the children of these mostly forgotten people-- whether their marriages endure or dissolve -- it was (and is) this fire that gives them hope, teaches them sacrifice and brightens the way forward.

Were it not for the fire, we would not be here.

None of us would be here.

And if none of us were here, there would be NO meaning... for it is only humans who conceive and perceive meaning.

In the absence of sex-wrought humans, all meaning would drain from Universe.

Despite the pain, heartache and catastrophe, I am grateful to every ancestor who kept the fire alive, inluding that pair of Celtic peasants in 1783 B.C. living somewhere in the land mass we now call Chechia.

Thank you!

Thank you!

A thousand times, thank you.

Was out most of the day so just listened to  today's NPR broadcast.
What I found most interesting was the Jehova's Witness account of her turmoil. How profound.
I tried to understand the wanting to shake  things up mentality but it falls short when you don't critically and realistically look at the instrument of the shaking. The instrument couldn't  have been more flawed yet he voted for    it    anyway.

I'm wondering how many public figures are shaking in their boots right now.
I think these exposures are endless.

I don't mind a little flaw but it's so disheartening to see people you admired and whose talent you enjoyed taken down by such egregious behavior that they may never and perhaps should never come back.
My movie life will be getting smaller and smaller.
Viggo and Sam Elliott better have been in control and sane.

I don't mind that Roy Moore is being accused, however. Its so right to see how evil this person is beyond just politics. The Republicans must really be so afraid of his winning that they're jumping on board to sink his ship before it even sails.

How often and for how long have you heard  me say that sex is the bane of the world? I just know I'm right. These behaviors probably lasted only moments but their repercussions will last a lifetime.

FOLLOW-UP CORRESPONDENCE

Dear F,

It would great if homo sapiens develops self-control - and still manages to propagate the species.

As of now, it looks to me like there needs to be a significant amount of blind lust to get the two sexes into intimate relationship.

The gender chasm is just too wide to cross with one's eyes fully open.

Plus, the kind of self-control you hope for could be part of the same "dispassionate" mindset that would cause people to look at "the genetic lottery" -- and the many trials-and-tribulations of childrearing -- and then consciously decide that the "risk-reward ratio" is just too damn daunting to go down that road.

It seems to me that Universe-God has imbued young adults with blind lust because it's indispensable for species survival.

The situation is akin to recruiting soldiers while their still "young, dumb and stupidly idealistic."

Only then can they believe that THEIR warmaking will render them The Good Guys who uphold Truth, Justice and The American Way.

I'm not saying sex doesn't have a place.  I'm saying it doesn't stay in its place to the point that it is the bane of this world. As we become more evolved, hopefully, we will  reach a better equilibrium and it will not have all the wideranging negative aspects it now has.

Too much is done out of place. Trafficking, selling children, rape, jealous murder, disease, abduction, mutilation, dominance, abortion, etc.etc.etc.

On a more individual level, feeling inadequate, not desirable, rejection, promiscuity, desperation, loss of livelihood and status  etc. etc.etc.

Throw in death in childbirth.

If you think about it, must take some fun out of it.
Most people don't think about it, I know.
Most people don't agree with it, I know.
That's going to delay our evolution.

Love

F
