Dear F,
Thanks for your email.
I agree: it is quite remarkable that so many people hate Hillary.
In part, Hillary's opponents are venting the hatred they "should" feel for the candidates who inflame their hatred.
Lamentably, hating "hurts so good" that many people cannot overcome the temptation to "cause the itch" whose subsequent scratching is an irresistibly prurient pleasure.

On the negative side of Hillary's ledger, consider the following excerpt from the New York Times article I just sent you -- "Mr. Sanders is pressing on in his campaign and hopes to influence the party’s platform at the July convention even if, as expected, he does not become the nominee. He has already pulled Mrs. Clinton to take more progressive stances on several issues, including supporting a higher minimum wage and opposing the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal and the Keystone XL pipeline." http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/2016/05/hillary-clinton-takes-step-to-left-on.html
THE QUESTION: Why did Hillary need to be "pulled" in the first place?
1.) The Keystone Pipeline was a Bush-Cheney monstrosity.
2.) A $15.00 minimum wage is totally workable - not to mention minimally moral.
3.) The smell from the Trans-Pacific Partnership comes straight from the crypt where capitalist corpses have moldered since the 2008 meltdown.

Perhaps Hillary's incrementalism arose from "getting burned" back in the nineties when she headed Bill's healthcare Dream Team and -- as things unfolded -- the sheer SIZE of The Universal Healthcare Vision bit her in the ass.
A strong argument can be made that Hillary lacks a BIG, unifying vision --- like Trump's Wall or blanket denial of visas to Muslims.
Even more ominously, Hillary lacks Big Vision in an election cycle that has people fed up with inside-The-Beltway incrementalism.
Why not propose Universal Medicare Buy-In?
Then she would have a Big Dream*

Hillary Clinton Takes A Step To The Left On Healthcare*: Proposes Medicare Buy-In
I see no real risk except, perhaps, to further infuriate angry white guys already flirting with straight jackets and padded cells.
Perhaps best of all, advocacy of Universal Medicare Buy-In would provide Hillary with something like "an alternative to Obamacare" (without having to turn her back on Obamacare).
What's not to like?

PS Here are some excerpts from my post, "How Hillary Clinton Could Blow It." "Donald Trump is going to run to Hillary's left on trade and jobs. He might even do the same on health care and foreign policy. And then he's going to promise a huge tax cut too. He doesn't care that it doesn't add up... (Plus) Trump's shamelessness is part of what he's selling people." http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/2016/05/how-hillary-clinton-could-blow-it.html
The very people Hillary needs to "win over" want The Promise even if it doesn't add up... perhaps especially if it doesn't add up.

Dear ALast night I spoke with my friend Dr. BG, who lives in Edmonton, Canada. Besides dismay over the Trump phenomenon, she said Canada is expecting a great immigration of Americans should he win. They have a name for it but I forgot it.I still can't understand the Hillary haters other than she doesn't have the distinguishing way of simple speech that Bernie and Donald have. It's what gives Trump the cafone, goomba (phonetic spelling) that he personifies and gives Bernie a regular guy NY realness. She uses too many words with a too business tone. This doesn't play in the Instagram world. She's to me the obvious world leader sans the showmanship. She's the obvious governmental realist (like this reality or not). Obama came in with great dreams but reality in government doesn't work on dreams and he ended up Taking what he could and leaving the rest. I don't see it changing unless Bernie can deliver the Revolution or God forbid Trump delivers his Fascist , Nazi Revolution.Barb also told me that her elderly, German lady friend compared Trump to what she remembered of Hitler.Love
