Obese Man Loses 275 Pounds After Reuniting With High School Sweetheart
Lee Jordan, a formerly obese man lost 275 pounds after being reunited with his high school sweetheart.
As a high schooler, Lee Jordan weighed in at an average 165 pounds. Throughout his twenties, Lee’s weight gradually increased to 453 pounds with a waist size of 72 inches. He attributes his weight gain to his 8,000 to 12,000 calorie per day diet.
“I never ate less than two large pizzas, followed by the super-size large family bag of Doritos, two large tubs of dip, two large boxes of cookies and a half-gallon of ice cream,” he said.
Lee Jordan suffered from diabetes, obesity induced lung disease, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. Doctors warned that he would not live past 2 years.
In 2008, Lee Jordan was reunited with his high school and college sweetheart Beth Schwein. He was initially nervous at the prospect, anticipating looks of “Pity. Shock. Horror.” In being reunited with Beth in 2008, Lee recalls, “Beth looked at me, and all she saw was Lee Jordan. That’s it. There was nothing but love and acceptance in her eyes.”
After being reunited with his long lost high school sweetheart, Lee realized how beneficial a long, healthy life could be and decided to commit to losing the extra pounds he had put on. Over the next next ten years, and with encouragement from Beth, Lee lost 275 pounds.
“I would get on the treadmill or Stairmaster every single day for one hour. Then I would eat practically nothing: anywhere between 600 to 900 calories a day, which is insane,” states Lee.
After realizing that this type of lifestyle was not realistic, he actually gained all of the weight he had lost back. After numerous battles with his obesity, he finally had a gastric band inserted around his stomach to aid with control. His success began with a small step, a walking program in fact. Lee hired an ACE trainer and began walking for a mere 30 seconds at a time. Bit by bit, Lee watched his life transform.
Lee Jordan now weighs in at a healthy 178 pounds with a waist size of 34. His previous health concerns have been reversed.
Lee and Beth now work together at Beth’s Boot Camp out of Jacksonville Beach, Florida. They often participate in 5k’s, 10k’s, and half-marathons. Their own personal motto is “Go small or go home."
