Tesla Motors Inc (TSLA) Expands Supercharger Network Into Switzerland

Tesla Motors Inc (TSLA) continues to move swiftly in rolling out its Supercharger network.
Tesla Motors Inc (TSLA) has remained true to its plans of rapidly expanding its Supercharger network. The automaker recently opened new stations in the U.S. states of Michigan, Indiana and Wisconsin. Now it has opened its very first station in Switzerland.

According to Slash Gear, the new station is located on the A1 highway at Restoroute Rose de la Broye, in Lully, Switzerland. It is situated between Geneva and Zurich, providing a corridor for those who wish to drive their bright, shiny new Model S between the two major Swiss cities. As with all of Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA)’s other Supercharger stations, this one is free for Model S drivers to use.
By the end of next year, Tesla wants to have 100% of people living in Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Denmark and the Netherlands living within 320 kilometers of a Supercharger station. The automaker said that by next year, 90% of the Wales, England and Sweden population will live within the same range of one of its stations.  It wants to have 98% of the U.S. covered by 2015.

What’s ahead for Tesla’s Supercharger network?

Tesla’s Supercharger technology is more advanced than standard electric vehicle charging stations because it can charge Tesla’s batteries up halfway in only a half hour. In the future, the automaker wants to speed up the technology even further so that it can charge batteries in just five minutes.
It seems like we’re always hearing about another Supercharging station opening.
