The roots of #Pedogate. What do Portland’s Voodoo Doughnuts, Toronto’s Sweet Jesus ice cream, and Washington, D.C.’s Comet Ping Pong pizza parlor have in common?
Besides serving tasty treats, all three food service operations have all been targeted by false and defamatory rumors claiming they’re associated with pedophile rings connected to so-called “deep state” elements in the United States government.
Such rumors are making the social media rounds under the hashtags #Pedogate and #Qanon. They’re shared mostly by conspiracy-minded supporters of President Donald Trump.
