Petition To "Repeal And Replace" The Electoral College

Dear B,

This morning, when I received friend Tarantino's forwarded petition to eliminate The Electoral College, I surprised myself by signing it.

As you know, I had previously thought (like you) that the historical reasons for The Electoral College's continuance were, on balance, persuasive.

But thinking it over in the light of this petition, I said to  myself: "It is better to change the fundamental political make-up of America than to sit by while Beelzebubba and his many violent followers and trigger-happy militiamen degrade the The United States of America out of existence.

There is not a snowball's chance in Hell that the petition below will achieve its direct goal. 

But it can contribute mightily to the movement known as The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, an initiative that DOES have a chance in Hell. (As you know,  on November 8th another snowball actually made it all the way through Hades.)

Remember: The only two times (since the 1800s) when the winner of the popular vote lost the presidential election in the Electoral College, it was Democratic candidates Al Gore and Hillary Clinton who lost.

Most importantly The Will of The People lost.

I suggest that we start viewing The Electoral College as a way that "the presidential vote" --- the only national vote we have --- is rigged.
