Correspondence With Texas Publisher Friend Re Alabama Church Arson And Trump's "Suitability"

Inline image 1

Dear Elaine,

Thanks for your email.

"Why would they write Trump on the church?" you ask.

Young bucks -- and lots of old bucks (one of whom is running for president) -- will say and do ANY damn thing.

Why would a suburban white guy -- apparently "sane" or what now "passes for sane" in white-loner America -- shoot two cops dead, apparently without any grievance that you or I (or anyone we know) would consider actual motivation for murder?

But let's say you're right on this one and that no arsonist would write "Trump" on he church he just torched.

How about all the other stuff?

Does Christianity's longstanding insistence on strict sexual morality -- and the categorical proscription of divorce (not to mention a collection of 3 trophy wives) -- mean nothing?

Is it all about pragmatism?

Is the "God-talk" just window-dressing?

Mind you, I have NO objection to secularist non-believers being pragmatists.

But Christians?

Christians worthy of the name?

"Why sure!" says Jesus. "I encourage all good Christians to vote for this thrice-divorced adulterer and economic predator whose current trophy wife was a softcore porn star. It's like I said in The Gospel of Mark, the oldest and most reliable of the four Gospels: "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery.”

But forget The Son of God

Here's what Republican candidates themselves have said about Drumpf:

Greetings,

Just writing about Donald Trump is an odd experience.

Some readers fault me for "bad taste" (or worse) just for circulating candid descriptions of Trump and his followers.

Consider.

I correspond with a conservative Catholic blogger who urges her sizable readership to vote for Trump but will not link to my recent blog posts about Donald because they're "pornographic."

Which is The Point

They are pornographic.

But she won't publish the evidence.

The bottom line?

My blogger friend will vote for pornography - and encourage others to vote for pornography - but she won't look at it!

She keeps it hidden "in the closet" which is where Trump lives most of his life, protected by the non-disclosure agreements he imposes on employees and ex-wives.

In his book, "Evil: The Shadow Side Of Reality," psychologist John Sanford observes that "Isolation is the breeding ground of evil."

Make no mistake.

Few humans are as isolated as Donald Trump, a man with no real friends, a man who takes great pains to return to Manhattan every night just to sleep in his own bed.

What does it mean that an overwhelming majority of American "Christians" support this "man" when, at the same time, they become nauseous contemplating him in full

These "Christians" are determined to "see" the nation's embodiment of spiteful bigotry through rosy glasses and are upset that I "rub their noses" in his reality.

Rarely do I encourage my correspondents to forward my writing.

In this instance however, I will depart from standard operating procedure if only to share the "felt experience" of sending these accurate descriptions and tawdry images to your loved ones and friends.

Many of you will remember the 1970s Wisk detergent ad that bemoaned "ring around the collar."

The mere fact of talking about Trump induces "ring around the soul."

Is the nation next?

Pax
