President Obama watching Republican bozos trip over themselves.

Dear John,
Thanks for the clever joke.

Consider this sobering thought.
There is no candidate in the entire Republican field who would be as good as George W. Bush.
The fundamental "unlearned lesson" of The GOP is that successful politics requires more than pro forma focus on purportedly "Christian" principles. http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/2012/04/merton-best-imposed-as-norm-becomes.html
Beyond this rudimentary "lesson," it is also necessary that a successful political party heed scientific findings -- not a strong suit among anti-Science Republicans -- and then be willing to compromise their principles, not feign absolute inviolability.
Lest we forget, Ronald Reagan raised taxes multiple times. http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/2012/10/what-would-reagan-really-do-newsweek_4.html

Given the GOP's insistence on lofty principles, it is ironic that the most important "principles" do not appear on Republican radar.
This ignorance of essential principles is attributable to the inconvenient truth that Republicans are more at home in The Old Testament than The New.
Consequently, they spurn compassion, mercy and forgiveness, prioritizing instead vengeance, vindictiveness and retaliation.
Consider the sad end of Chris Christie, probably the best Republican in the party.
Due to his central personality flaw, Christie failed to create an organizational ethos to steer his staff clear of petty political retribution.
Instead, his administrators considered themselves within "normal limits" whenever they employed the same bullying behavior that was Christie's hallmark.
Check out these five video clips of Christie being a bully.

A prayer request by a sweet elderly lady overheard in Church.
"Dear Lord,
This has been a tough four to five years. You have taken my favorite actor Paul Newman, my favorite actress Elizabeth Taylor, my favorite singer Whitney Houston, and now my favorite author Tom Clancy. I just wanted you to know that my favorite politicians are Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid.
Amen."
Alan: Unlike spiteful Republicans, Democrats want to keep their opposition alive. As assets to long-term Democratic aspirations, right-wing bozos are incalculably valuable. No Democratic strategist could devise the counterproductive behaviors that characterize The Republican Party. At every turn, the GOP does the most damaging thing for its long-term viability. Imagine. They make it their business -- 24/7 to piss off women, Hispanics, blacks, young people and highly educated people. I would not be surprised if they start targeting Catholics and their "Marxist" pope.
You gotta love 'em!
