Alan: Wacky right-wing ideation arises from the irrational belief that "exceptions to rules" authorize the creation of New Rules. Yes, there is extraordinary variation in human behavior and so it is likely that an occasional lesbian will persuade men to sire children and then oblige them to pay alimony. (Similarly, there have always been male pimps, although significantly this condition has never become The Norm.) To believe that exceptions can be made into New Rules is to take leave of one's senses. Consider... Like many Catholic Christians, I believe that human levitation occasionally occurs: it is rare but real. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_of_Copertino However, despite Catholic belief in levitation, no one (except, perhaps, a contingent of Republican Catholics) argues against The Law of Gravity. Exceptions are exceptions. They are not normal. To argue their normalcy encourages psychopathology. (By way of illustration, consider the cast of Republican candidates in the last presidential campaign.) An anecdotal note... The committed gay and lesbian couples I know exhibit, generally, healthier relationships than my heterosexual friends. The Council for Marriage Policy (CMP), a Christian anti-LGBT group that is a division of the right-wing Renew America PAC, issued a frantic warning on Friday that if same sex marriage becomes legal in all 50 states, lesbians will trick gay and straight men into fathering their children and turn them into economic slaves. According to Right Wing Watch, the 37-pragraph column was written by CMP president David R. Usher and was entitled “Our last chance to save traditional marriage.”
Usher’s dystopian screed warned that the Supreme Court will create multiple classes of marriage. In a section called “Class 1: Mother-Mother marriages,” he predicted that “[w]hen two women marry, it is a three-way contract among two women and the government. Most women will bear children by men outside the marriage – often by pretending they are using birth control when they are not.”
He continued, “Entrapped men become economically-conscripted third parties to these marriages, but get nothing in return.”
These women, he said, will also be awarded state support. He envisions a world in which women marry women, but keep the fathers of their children around and “combine incomes, double-up on tax-free child support and welfare benefits, decrease costs, and double the human resources available to raise children and run their household,” managing, purportedly, to sponge off of a lesbian wife, a cohabitating boyfriend and the government simultaneously.
Gay men, he said, will have the worst time of it under legalized same sex marriage because “[i]n most cases, these men will become un-consenting ‘fathers’ by reproductive entrapment,” although how the devious Class-1 lesbians will accomplish this is left to the reader’s imagination.
“Men in male-male marriages who become fathers by deceptive means will be forced to pay child support to women in bi-maternal marriages,” he wrote, “and become economically enslaved to Class-1 marriages. The taxpayers will be guarantors of child support collections for low-income fathers who cannot afford to pay (as occurs in the existing welfare state).”
The resulting Class-3 gay male marriages, Usher said, will form a “marriage underclass” that is also enslaved to the lesbian child-rearing statist cabal.
With these lesbians ruling the country, he warned, “Men will be forced to labor for the economic benefit of marriages between women – marriages men have been ‘redlined’ out of – by the choice of two women who married with intention to have children by men outside the marriage. This approaches the definition of slavery – and perhaps sexual trafficking or bondage.”
In this gay new world, Usher said, “schools will be aggressively promoting lifestyles that kill or disable children and infect innocent women and babies with HIV.”
Heterosexual marriages, he said, are the bedrock upon which the U.S. is formed, and that “[t]o dismantle marriage – the most important equal rights institution framed by the Founding Fathers – is to dismantle the Constitution, freedom, and the United States of America.”
