The Real Gun Problem Is Not Automatic And Semi-Automatic Weaponry

It will take more time to deprive Americans' guns of their guns than it will take the Church to normalize women priests and gay marriage.

Much more.

Indeed, I do not see Americans ever deprived of single-shot rifles, double-barelled shotguns and probably not handguns... even though the latter are (by far!) The Real killers.

Sure, outlaw automatic and semi-automatic weapons. But never forget that these cumbersome weapons are red herrings - capable of great carnage but rarely inflicting it.

Overwhelmingly, handguns have been responsible for the million Americans slaughtered since 1968.

The two issues -- gun control and nuclear disarmament -- should at least remain connected.

Also, it's good to remember that Obama can kill millions with the nod of his head -- if he chooses. Personally, I think he is rock-solid sane and won't do that, but still it's good to keep that image in mind.
