Kingdom Come

The Jerusalem Temple
(Seen from the East during the reign of Herod)

The Temple Mount Today

Dear Patrick,

Thanks for forwarding Zunes' view.

I very much value those who hold politicians' feet to The Godly Fire.

In the last ten years or so, I have found it easier to tolerate (without approving) many political shenanigans since I find democracy better than other political forms and think it only works when there are Big Compromises.

For me, the "coming of the Kingdom" has become a trans-generational project that we work on -- perhaps "transmigrationally" -- to incrementally "feather" Humankind's "nest" so that, "down the road," The Son of Man (and all The Sons of Men) will have a blessed place to lay their heads.

When Jesus said "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's" he was (on one fundamental level) talking about paying taxes to the Roman Army of Occupation, which, 35 years later, would use that tax money to destroy The Temple, an act Mike Baxter considered far more devastating to the Jewish psyche than the destruction of The Twin Towers was to the American psyche.

BTW... Do you know where Mike is... and what he's up to?

Pax vobiscum

Alan

Subject: Zunes articles #137: Hillary Clinton's legacy at the State Department

My latest article looks at the legacy of Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State, in which I argue that despite the unjustified and often sexist attacks against her from the right, she does not deserve praise from liberals and progressives due to her support for autocratic regimes and occupation armies, opposition to the consistent enforcement of international humanitarian law, and advocacy of military solutions to complex political problems:
And here are links to a series of articles I wrote regarding Hillary Clinton upon her nomination as Secretary of State in December 2008, in which I examined her foreign policy positions as a senator and presidential candidate:
I will be giving a series of public lectures in the coming weeks in various western states.  You can find my schedule at:  http://stephenzunes.org/lectures-appearances/upcoming-appearances/
