For some inexplicable reason, it’s almost verboten to point out that universal, government-backed healthcare would relieve American businesses of a tremendous expense that currently hobbles them in the marketplace

We won't have "Medicare for all" any time soon, but businesses could increasingly support reforms that would let them get out of providing employee health care.

  • Fred Maske It's as if there's an entire corrupt industry that has purchased the loyalty of nearly all members of both garbage parties.
    • Alan Archibald Yes, there is garbage.

And then there are putrescent bodies left to rot in public places.

Beyond a certain threshold, quantitative differences become qualitative differences.

Republican politician Bruce Bartlett had this to say about conservative politics: I love Donald Trump, because he exposes everything about the Republican Party that I have frankly come to hate. It`s just filled with people who are crazy and stupid and have absolutely no idea what they`re talking about,"

And Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal said: "We must stop being the stupid party... We must not be the party that simply protects the well-off so they can keep their toys,"

Simply put, it's a rare Democrat who does not know a lot about the factual basis of issues.

And it's a rare Republican who does.

Or, if Republicans do know -- and act as if they don't -- that duplicity strikes me as even more morally putrescent.

  • James Jackson Interesting that American businesses with branches overseas do not discuss the difference between our system and the universal health care in those other countries
    • Alan Archibald Interesting point. I'll check with my brother Gerald who studies this sort of thing.
