Perhaps it is wise to keep in mind that Chinese leadership is immeasurably more shrewd than Donald the Dunce, and the Chinese people immeasurably more patient than "gotta have it yesterday" Americans.
Trump's dunderheadedness is already working overtime to transfer the torch of global leadership to Beijing.
And his absurd Trade War is accelerating the surrender of American hegemony as surely as Chamberlain accelerated the ascendancy of The Third Reich.
Trump's so-called "common sense" is a self-defeating trap whose chief purpose is to lure voters who want things simple: "God said it. I believe it. That settles it."
In fact, what we need most is "uncommon sense."
