Crypto Truth:
GM creates its own problems by deliberately designing obsolescence into parts used on its vehicles to keep "Mr. Goodwrench" busy. As a company, they deserve to fail because of that crappy ethic. Make products that will last, and the word of mouth alone will make a company prosper. It really is unfortunate that people will lose jobs if GM disintegrates, but that is an issue the employees need to put on the shoulders of GM management, and not blame on President Trump.
Putting pressure on GM will actually help them prosper in the future, *IF* management wakes up and elects to improve their products, and create lasting value for their customers. This same ethic applies to all companies, with the principle of designing cheap "throw away" products being one of the primary reasons their is an accelerating cycle of WASTE, and the mindset of making something that "works for just a little while" is spreading into our society.
The "too big to fail" mentality of Obama was a parachute, and GM missed a perfect opportunity to vastly improve their bottom line by improving their products. They SHOULD NOT receive anymore hand outs.

Alan:
"Too big to fail" is a lousy, self-destructive business model.
Yes, Obama should have blasted Cowboy Capitalism with its propagation of never-ending boom-bust cycles in which every "bust" degrades "Joe Blow" more than he benefits from the preceding "boom." (Boom-bust cycles are designed to consolidate ever more wealth at the top of the capitalist "pyramid scheme."
It's the way the game is played. http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/2018/06/why-americans-have-moral-obligation-to.html
With that in mind, I understand that the U.S. (and world) economies were on the verge of financial and economic meltdown (back in 2007-2008), a dire peril boding paralysis.
It was a bitter pill to realize that economic and financial paralysis would have been as "impossible" to reverse as paralysis from a severed spinal cord.
But "extraordinary times require extraordinary measures."

Lest we forget, Trump's business expansion (which will crash-and-burn before his 2020 ouster) is a continuation of Obama's economic recovery.
That said, Obama is no longer president.
Trump is.
And Trump does nothing to break up "too big to fail" companies.
To the contrary, Mafia Don bolsters their consolidation.
"Will Trump Be The Most Pro-Monopoly President In History?"
It's how "Wealth-World" works...
Populist "heroes" bamboozle "the people" who then genuflect at the most recently-constructed altar to Hitler/Mussolini/Trump, all of them promoting "Anti-Democratic Authoritarianism." http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/2015/11/liberal-democracy-born-in-18th-century.html
"The Scientific Method" and "Rules of Intellectual Rigor" exist.
They cannot be fobbed off as "fake news," "alternative facts" or Bozo's bogus refrain that "many people are saying" and "you better believe me!"
Trump is this generation's P.T. Barnum and he knows -- in the marrow of his bones -- that "a sucker is born every minute."
"Regulation" is not a dirty word as the authors of The Second Amendment made clear: "A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state..." http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/2012/04/gun-control-and-second-amendment.html
But beyond regulation, what has Trump done to end the consolitation that ALWAYS results in "the too-big boom" that preceeds "the inevitable bust?"
Most people are stupid.
And tragically, a clear majority are uneducated.
