Father Of Three Daughters Tries To Attack Larry Nassar In Courtroom
Alan: I have no desire to mitigate the horrendous crimes committed by sex felon Larry Nassar.
But I am haunted by the "feeling" that abused families fall into two categories.
Either parents did not believe their own children's allegations of sexual abuse, or the children -- three of them in the Margraves' family! -- did not "speak up."
I understand the workings of "denial," "Stockholm Syndrome," "shame/guilt" and "not rocking the boat" - all of which are intimately bound to outsized belief in "authoritarianism" and the "authorities" rooted in this explicitly-or-implicitly corrupt (and corrupting) philosophy.
Still, it is still shocking that so many families sided with their daughters' abusers, either ignoring their daughters' accusations, or contributing to a family culture that "persuaded" daughters not to speak up.
