Mosquito Eye (Electron Micrograph)

Mosquito The eye of a mosquito consists of several dozen individual eyes, which are arranged like a honeycomb. The surfaces of these eyes are finely structured, which probably serves the reduction of reflection and a higher light yield. Each eye perceives a small section of the entire field of view, the sensations of the individual eyes are processed in the brain of the mosquito into an overall picture. Scanning electron microscope, 450:1 (at 15x13cm)
