The RNC As Parody Of The Nuremberg Rallies: "Yes, You Can!"

Donald "Pus Gargle" Trump Makes Shit Up. Crowds Cheer. | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

Dear F and Jimbo,

As you may know, Ken Kessler has been WAPO's fact-checker for years. I think he does good work.

Fact-Checking Donald Trump's Acceptance Speech At The RNC (Ken Kessler, Washington Post)

I am increasingly persuaded that "conservatives" are not only uninterested in truth but hostile toward it, particularly when presented - as Truth must be - in rich context.

Obsessive fixation on "Pure Principles" does not allow close examination of terrestrial reality (which is why Gregory Bateson rightly observed: "Natural History is the antidote for piety.")

Compendium Of Best Pax Posts On "Too Pure Principles" And The Collapse Of Conservatism

"The terrible thing about our time is precisely the ease with which theories can be put into practice.  The more perfect, the more idealistic the theories, the more dreadful is their realization.  We are at last beginning to rediscover what perhaps men knew better in very ancient times, in primitive times before utopias were thought of: that liberty is bound up with imperfection, and that limitations, imperfections, errors are not only unavoidable but also salutary. The best is not the ideal.  Where what is theoretically best is imposed on everyone as the norm, then there is no longer any room even to be good.  The best, imposed as a norm, becomes evil.”
"Conjectures of a Guilty Bystander,” by Trappist monk, Father Thomas Merton

"Conservatives" thrive on decontextualization -- the deliberate, systematic fracturing of Truth -- a practice that enables the self-deluded to represent "Shards-of-Truth" as The Real Deal.

I encourage you to re-visit the tale of "The Blind Men And The Elephant." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blind_men_and_an_elephant

Accept  no substitutes: Any text, without a context, is a pretext.

Also, note that a well-informed "head" puts a brake on "the belly" so that Truth can only diminish the anger, hostility and apocalyptic pessimism that have become "conservatism's" daily bread.

For "conservatives," political reality distills to the gut: it is a visceral drum beat that merges the amorphous, smarmy, self-congratulatory mob.

Their behavior leads to an inevitable conclusion: "conservatives" believe that Truth is determined by decibelage and therefore -- since Truth lacks intrinsic the intrinsic power of Gandhi's satyragraha, they discard sound epistemology for dirty tricks.

"The Death Of Epistemolgy"

During Trump's windy speech in Cleveland, the single moment that impressed me most was when the crowd --- their faces unusually ecstatic -- started chanting at Donald: "Yes, you can! Yes, you can! Yes, you can!" (The subtext being... "We will sit by and give you full autorization to do as you will so long as you save us.")

When last night's congregation began its chant, I immediately "heard" Obama's "Yes, we can! Yes, we can! Yes, we can!" - the chant of a community declaring its shared responsibility and shared capability.

Last night's parody of a Nuremberg Rally revealed der volk surrendering responsibility and initiative to the fuhrer

"Yes, YOU can."

The final night of the RNC was a textbook display of regressed children eager for a strong/stern father-to "do it" for them.

But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment.
The one who fears is not made perfect in love."
