Alan: When American conservatives express bewilderment at Joe Biden's assertion that we MUST spend money to avoid bankruptcy, they spotlight their cerebral incapacity, a dysfunction that soon gives way to moral bankruptcy.
Every successful capitalist is fully aware that "you must spend money to make money."
And "big money" always depends on borrowed money.
And "big money" always depends on borrowed money.
Even Trump acknowledges that debt is the "fulcrum" that made him rich.
But don't believe me.

It is a hard truth that political austerity uses the same logic as anorexia.
If any "organism" or "system" lacks sufficient "fat" an ugly, unnecessary death is in the offing. (Depending on gender, a healthy human body is comprised of at least 3% to 7% fat.)
2500 years ago, Chinese sage Lao Tzu observed that "the profoundest truths are paradoxical."
It is also observable that the "paradoxes of truth" are routinely hedged 'round with irony.
Common sense may work for commonplaces.
But common sense does not work when "it's complicated."
Confronted by uncommon conundrums, uncommon sense trumps common sense every time.
If you think economic and political health requires an austere disposition that ruthlessly "cuts all fat," here's what you're aiming for:

Alan: It is difficult to conjure a poster more dimwitted than "Stop Spending." The "message" is as absurd as "Stop Urinating," "Stop Defectating," or "Stop Breathing."
On the other hand....
