  Zach Zimet Not exactly. If Trump goes down, Pence becomes president. Then he appoints a new VP, who would become president if he gets removed. Unless things happen in a very specific way, we won't see president Pelosi.

    Zach Zimet This is what I said: a very specific way--the Dems playing a dirty trick to avoid seating a VP, THEN impeaching again while there's no VP in place.
    
    I personally would consider that to be very bad, an odd power grab to steal the presidency.

    The process I describe is not desirable.
    
    But, after decades of dirty tricks including grotesque gerrymandering and Moscow Mitch's theft of Obama's Supreme Court appointment, how do we restore a semblance of justice.
    
    Maybe we could arrange a quid pro quo in which Democrats get to name the next Republican president's Supreme Court nominee (thus "replacing" Gorsuch whose seat on the bench was stolen from Obama) plus a civil trial for Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas in which "the preponderance of evidence" (rather than "reasonable doubt") is the evidentiary standard.
