Armageddon Cheerleaders: How Many "Christian" "Conservatives" Pine For Nuclear Conflagration

Alan: A large number of "Christian" "conservatives" believe global conflagration -- quite likely nuclear -- is a necessary prelude to The Second Coming.

These "Christians" go beyond feeling that conflagration is "justified" and consider conflagration cause for celebration - "a consummation devoutly to be wished."

I refer to these people as "Armageddon Cheerleaders."

"Armageddon Cheerleaders" are giddy over the prospect --- for they (unlike the God-damned infidels) are Saved! --- and Jesus will ensure that no harm befalls them or their families.

"Armageddon Cheerleaders" are blithely ignorant of the moral hazard that they themselves could be agents of a self-fulfilling prophecy -- completely independent of "God's will"... or even contrary to God's will -- and that this self-fulfilling prophecy could result in the death of billions, not to mention the unique suffering of being "roasted" from within by radiation poisoning, eyes boiled in their sockets, flesh slowly sloughing from the bone.

According to Pew Research polling, 58% of white evangelical Christians say Christ will return to earth by 2050, the exact same percentage of the population which believes there will be a third World War by mid-century. https://www.pewresearch.org/…/jesus-christs-return-to-earth/

Because many people see religion as an ill-informed throwback to the Bronze Age, they do not take these cheerleaders seriously.

In their own way, these secularists are as deeply immersed in denial as the believers they ridicule, and would wisely recall that these "Christian" "conservatives" despise Science; are deliberately - even evangelically - unreasonable-if-not-irrational; and that they elected Donald Trump, believing in the depths of their heart that Donald Trump is a divinely-ordained predecessor/harbinger of The Second Coming, not unlike John the Baptist.
