Beijing is very interested in the impeachment inquiry into Trump.
In public, Chinese leaders gleefully push a “democracy brings chaos” story — which is one that China’s state-run media has been telling for ages. Democracy doesn’t work. Just look at the US. It’s in chaos. Now, the Chinese Communist Party, on the other hand, has everything going swimmingly.
But in private, China’s leaders are more pragmatic and not so wildly self-assured. Some analysts believe the top echelon of the CCP really does feel threatened by Trump.
