EHK: I know you think I'm a cruel, racist, xenophobic hater, but I need to point out that the problem is not that: "Anyone afraid of coming forward, afraid that she would not be believed, can now look to the president to see her fears realized." The problem is that women will now be more afraid than ever to come forward, not because she was not believed, but because she made a public accusation (although she had wanted to remain private, the Dems betrayed and exploited her for the sake of politics) and her accusation, though sincere, was not credible. She had no one to back her up. She did not know when, where, how she got there, who took her home (why didn't that person come to her defense?) and not even her family to testify in her defense.
And although xenophobia is quite widespread among contemporary "conservatives," I doubt you're xenophobic.
However, when you say: "I know you think I'm a cruel, racist, xenophobic hater," not only are you wrong on all four counts, I wonder why you chose to say "I know you think..."
To claim "I know" is pretty strong stuff... especially when the claim doesn't correspond to the facts.
It is true that, from time to time, we all make unsubstantiated assertions.
But unsubstantiated assertions are the very lifeblood of The White House, the planetary epicenter of Fake News. http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/2017/09/bannon-broadcasts-on-fake-news.html
In any event, the crux of the Atlantic article - "Cruelty Is The Point" - is that the Trump administration is "cruel, racist, xenophobic and hateful."
Furthermore, these characteristics are provable.
Sadly, I did not realize that the hyperlinks originally embedded in the Atlantic article did not transfer with the copy I posted to Fred's Facebook.
So, here's another link where you can "click" to your heart's content. (When you do click, please post links that disprove Serwer's assertions. Thanks.) https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2018/10/the-cruelty-is-the-point/572104/
May I ask if you read the Atlantic article?
The mountain of evidence demonstrating cruelty, racism, xenophobia and hatefulness in the Trump administration is incontrovertible for anyone who resists the "fake news defense" and foreswears the hollow boasts of "alternative facts."
As for Dr. Blasey Ford's credibility... 32% of Americans believed her allegation of sexual assault prior to testimony, and 45% believed her account after testimony - an increase of 41%.
On the other hand, only 26% of Americans believed Kavanaugh before testimony, whereas 33% believed him after testimony.
Overall, 34.6% more Americans believe Dr. Blasey Ford than believe Kavanaugh.
This kind of lopsidedness is seldom seen in American politics.
America has formed its opinion. And it is clear that "we the people" have a lot more trust in Blasey Ford than The "Boofoon" now elevated to The Supreme Court - a predictable companion piece to the buffoon in the White House. The Court of Public Opinion has pronounced... and Kavanaugh got trounced.

Furthermore, from my vantage, women are more determined than ever to "come forward" and tell their sex abuse stories. Here is an account of decades-long abuse while my 65 year old friend "Carol" occupied a professional post at a major transnational pharmaceutical company. http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/2017/12/my-friends-experience-of-years-long.html
