Facebook Exchange About Conservative Women Who "Think" They Support Women's Rights

EK: So it's possible she did not remember certain parts of her nightmare, and among those is who the perpetrator was. Also where were her parents if she was only 15 and needed a ride home? Where is the person or persons who gave her that ride home? Someone needs to speak up for her now that she has been outed by politics, against her will. Don't hang her out to dry.

Area: I begin this post "out of sequence" to spotlight the insinuation - common among conservative women who claim they champion women's rights - that there was something "wrong" with Blasey Ford's parents who let their young daughter be "wandering around" without adequate parental supervision.

Please answer this question Elaine:

Why is there NO insinuation, however slight, that Kavanaugh's parents were so absent from their son's life - so egregiously deficient in his upbringing - that they raised a drunken asshole with a degraded (and degrading) view of women, who bragged about "the prolific pukers among us," and whose yearbook description is full of eye-poppingly perverse sexual references? https://www.vox.com/2018/9/26/17901368/kavanaugh-yearbook-boof-devil-triangle-renate-beach-week

I look forward to your reply.

Again...

Why do you (and your conservative fellows) insinuate a "shadow" over Ford (an exemplary young woman), yet you can't conceive that Kavanaugh's parents "raised" a son who - had he been your kid - would have filled you with hangdog shame?

Why is that?

Don't dodge; answer the question please.

The Process Was Just Like Rape."
(Despite dozens of prevetted alternatives to Kavanaugh, "The Boofoon" was confirmed so that the GOP, a global disgrace, did not go into the midterm elections without another conservative on the court.)

In general Elaine, the questions you raise are far too abstract - too logical and rhetorical-to relate to the incandescent immediacy of Blasey Ford's attempted rape.

Remembering that Kavanaugh's alleged attack took place during the afternoon of a very long summer day -and keeping in mind that Blasey Ford's understandable reaction was "to tell no one" -there are any number of scenarios that could create the "information vacuum" you find so suspicious.

1.) We know that Ford was familiar with the neighborhood where her alleged attack took place. This same familiarity likely included Ford's friendship with other people in the neighborhood on whose door she could have knocked to ask for a ride.

2.) Or she could have borrowed a friend's home phone to call her own parents to come get her. If, as seems likely, Ford wanted to keep quiet about the assault, she could have said: "I went to this party Mom/Dad, and the person who gave me a ride there wants to stay through the evening and I'm really tired and want to come home now."
No muss. No fuss. No memory.

3.) It appears that the alleged attack could have taken place at the home of Kavanaugh's friend Tim Gaudette. That home, pictured and described in the article below, was ten miles from the country club where Blasey Ford, a very fit young woman, spent the earlier part of her day.

"Is This the Maryland House Where Christine Blasey Ford Was Allegedly Assaulted?"

At a brisk walking pace of 4 miles per hour, Blasey Ford could have walked to her Country Club in 2 and a half hours and asked any number of people for a ride home. (She also could have used that walking time and the exercise itself to calm down.)

If such a request were made of me, I would have immediately provided transportation and without the occurrence becoming a long-term memory.

4.) Ford was from a well-off family and likely had enough pocket money to flag a cab after walking to the nearest main road.

5.) It could even be that Ford walked - or jogged - all the way home. (Unfortunately, I cannot make a determination of the distance between Tim Gaudette's house and Blasey Ford's home.)

In the contest of "dueling possibilities" there are many ways Christine Ford could have arranged a ride home without anyone thinking twice about it.

In the quality links below you can read up on the science and psychology of sexual assault.

Notably, the reality of sexual assault has little to do with common sense views of how victims react. (Conservatives are eager to champion "common sense" when most "matters of consequence" can only be understood with "uncommon sense." It is also true that a significant chunk of conservatives' contempt for the findings of Science, for example the Science Of Global Warming, extends to their contempt for the findings of modern psychology. http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/2017/03/isaac-asimov-meets-tinfoil-trump.html
