Suspected bomber Ahmad Khan Rahami's dad says the FBI cleared his son in 2014 after he stabbed his brother

Don’t blame the dad.
The father of accused terrorist bomber Ahmad Khan Rahami says he contacted the feds in 2014 when his son turned violent after he returned to New Jersey from a trip to Afghanistan.
“Two years ago, I called the FBI,” Mohammad Rahami said Tuesday outside his First American Fried Chicken takeout restaurant. “My son, he’s doing really bad, OK?”
The FBI, after a two-month probe, told the father Ahmad was “clear — he’s not (a) terrorist,” the elder Rahami said. “Now (they) say he’s a terrorist. I say OK.”
The father recounted reaching out to the FBI after Ahmad stabbed his brother Nasim in an unprovoked attack and attacked his mother.
Ahmad Rahami became radicalized during trips to Pakistan and Afghanistan over the last four years, authorities said, with friends and neighbors noting a change in the suspect after the 2014 visit.
Mohammad Rahami said Ahmad “stabbed my son. He hit my wife. And I put him in the jail two years ago.” The family lived above the fried chicken joint.

Officials said Ahmad Rahami spent two months in jail, but the case collapsed when a family member recanted the stabbing allegation.
A source told the Daily News Mohammad Rahami had initially told the FBI his son was a terrorist — although he later told the feds that he was mistaken.
Asked Tuesday if he wanted to address the charges against Ahmad, the father replied, “Not at this time, OK?"
Rahami, who shot two police officers, remained behind bars Tuesday on $5.2 million bail.
According to CNN, investigators recovered a notebook carried by Rahami after a wild Elizabeth, N.J., shootout ended with his Monday arrest.
The terror suspect referenced Yemeni-American cleric Anwar al-Awlaki of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and the Tsarnaev brothers of the Boston Marathon bombings, the network reported.
Al-Awlaki was killed in a 2011 CIA drone strike.
The bomber left behind clues like a trail of breadcrumbs for investigators to follow in the two days before his arrest.

His fingerprint was found on the unexploded bomb left in Chelsea, along with a sample of his DNA. And cops linked a cellphone to the suspect — using the device to pinpoint different locations linked to Rahami.
Electronic toll records showed the suspect traveled between New Jersey and Manhattan on Saturday — the day when bombs were detonated at the Jersey Shore and then in Chelsea.
The Chelsea bombing injured 29 people. Authorities believe Rahami also set five bombs in a backpack at the Elizabeth train station, but none of the devices detonated.

Surveillance cameras also captured the suspect’s face, with Rahami making no effort to disguise himself or cover his features, according to authorities.
Rahami was arrested Monday morning after getting into a gunfight with cops in Linden, N.J., where he injured Officers Angel Padilla and Peter Hammer.
