The Iraq War And Benghazi In Context: Iraq Was Catastrophic; Benghazi Was A Peccadillo

Thanks for your email.
While in California, I spent a day in Berkeley with an old and dear friend who's been a 9/11 Truther for nearly 15 years.
R just returned from a trip to Syria where -- predictably -- he came away with the conviction that Saddam and Putin are "the good guys," defending the only regime that has any claim to legitimacy which, viewed narrowly, is probably true.
Even so, at what point does "the end no longer justify the means" by which a second generation Assad dictator arrogates "civilized motives" to himself while perpetrating routine war crimes on a populace that wants to be done with the autocratic asshole.
Admittedly lots of things in the 9/11 official story don't add up but when you compare 2500 American dead -- even if their deaths were directly ordered by Bush-and-or-Cheney -- those cadavers do not constitute a drop in the bucket, nay, not even a molecule in the bucket, of mass murder perped by Tio Sam worldwide.
Washington's global criminality -- starting with the death of 500,000-to-a-million Iraqis and 3 million Vietnamese -- is where ALL the energy expended on Clinton hatred should be directed.
To let oneself be distracted by the death of two teenage Arkansans so that it is no longer necessary to even look at The Holocaustal Monstrosity of America's coordinated - and ongoing - carnage since World War II is not only to let the real culprit off the hook but to perpetuate conservatives' precious belief that we gringos should value two teens (and four security guards in Benghazi) more highly than the four million corpses mentioned above -- and that doesn't even touch on Uncle Sam's diabolism in Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Chile, Iran, Afghanistan et al.
Any of us who is endowed with a retirement fund - or, for that matter, yours and my paltry participation in the Social Security trust fund - has financed some finite number of bullets or fractions-of-bombs that have spilled more blood than when those two kids bled out on an Arkansan train track.
In the 13th century A.D., Thomas Aquinas observed that sin is always accompanied by loss of perspective/proportion.
Against the backdrop of this moral theology, I contend that American conservatives dedicate themselves 24/7 to the deliberate sinful distortion of those twin qualities.

And as politicians go, I will happily vote for Killary for Prez even if she has blood on her hands.
Politics is not an arena for perfectionistic expectations.
It's a domain in which imperfect people in an imperfect system might, with luck, make some incremental improvement that outweighs the harm they do.

Subject: Mena Arkansas and Iran-Contra-ToddPlease enjoy. And don't forget to vote Killary for Prez!comprehensive list of articles -Murder. Bank Fraud, and Sex -But, to get the best idea of what we'd be in for with a hellary presidency, I recommend a quick perusal of the Clinton Death List, and just look at how, so often, their enemies (and their lovers) end up dead. There are many such listings out there, some longer; some shorter. But here are a few different listings to choose from:But, for a broader context, look at this amazing article by one of my former subscribers, Sam Smith, who authored a politico rag named the Progressive Review for some 50 years. By the time I met him years later in DC, he was just about as cynical as I'm on my way to becoming. Without any further ado, Sam's rather thorough piece:here are the Cliff Notes of the saga, if you will:Of course, there is much, much more to the story:There is a much larger context to Iran-Contra and why the bodies of two boys ended up being decapitated on the railroad tracks in Mena, Arkansas. The short answer is that the two boys were out deer hunting when they stumbled upon a bag of drugs and money that was dropped from a plane in a zone that had been designated as the drop zone. The bag was traced to them, and, consequently, they had to be disposed of in a way that would not lead to any investigation of the area. So,...they fell asleep on the railroad tracks. End of story. It turns out that before becoming governor, Bill Clinton had been a CIA informant. (Bill Clinton, according to several agency sources interviewed by biographer Roger Morris, worked as a CIA informer while briefly and erratically a Rhodes Scholar in England. Although without visible means of support, he travels around Europe and the Soviet Union, staying at the ritziest hotel in Moscow. During this period the US government is using well educated assets such as Clinton as part of Operation Chaos, a major attempt to break student resistance to the war and the draft. )Mom,A quick search of Mena, Arkansas and Iran-Contra provided me with dozens of links to articles about the two boys murdered and then placed on the railroad tracks:

This might also help to explain why after Clinton drove LA Congressman Hale Boggs to get aboard a twin engine plane along with AK Congressman Nick Begich, the two were never heard from again. (It is assumed the plane crashed; which was a fairly common tactic used by the CIA to get rid of political enemies. Curiously, the plane was never found, so we will never know whether it was downed by a bomb.)Boggs had sat on the seven member Warren Commission, and been one of the three dissenters along with Senator Sherman Cooper and Senator Richard Russell. As Dallas journalist Jim Marrs pointed out, "The most vocal critic among Commission members [was Hale Boggs]. Boggs became frustrated with the panel's total reliance on the FBI for information. Speaking of the 'single-bullet theory,' Boggs once commented, 'I had strong doubts about it.' On April 1, 1971, House Majority Leader Boggs delivered a blistering attack on FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, charging that under his directorship the FBI had adopted 'the tactics of the Soviet Union and Hitler's Gestapo. Said Boggs, "Hoover lied his eyes out to the [Warren] Commission on Oswald, on Ruby, on their friends, the bullets, the gun, you name it."
Boggs, who undoubtedly would have become Speaker of the House and a powerful ally the inevitable reopening of the JFK assassination was becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the US shadow government. Some months before he disappeared, he stated. "Over the postwar years, we have granted to the elite and secret police within our system vast new powers over the lives and liberties of the people. At the request of the trusted and respected heads of those forces, and their appeal to the necessities of national security, we have exempted those grants of power from due accounting and strict surveillance."
(Oddly enough, twenty years later, another Clinton foe C. Victor Raiser II, and his son, Montgomery, also died in a plane crash in Alaska. Raiser had been Clinton's former finance co-chairman of Clinton's presidential campaign, but eventually soured on Clinton and became a potential leak and liability to Bill's presidency. Their plane crashed in good weather near Anchorage, Alaska, on July 30, 1992.)
The Boggs connection thingy is just a side note. Now back to Clinton and Iran-Contra.
