Alan: Not long ago (in another universe) "conservatives" were so insistent that no one criticize the America that critics were told to "Love it or leave it!"

Then, as right-wing fortunes began to wane (and demographic trends are increasingly unfavorable) conservatives' only recourse was to criticize the country, always and everywhere.

To make this ju jitsu possible, conservatives took it upon themselves to redefine any terminology ran afoul of their uncompromising, ideological absolutism.

The upshot was the emergence of Fox News and the creation of "yargle, bargle, blargh."
