Evangelist Pat Robertson said that the millions of children and adults who will flock into the streets to trick or treat in celebration of Halloween on Saturday are actually “celebrating Satan.”
“Well, it used to be known as All Saints Eve,” Robertson said on Thursday’s episode of “The 700 Club,” referencing a long-revered religious holiday that unfolds on November 1. “Now, we know it as Halloween and Saturday is Halloween — and that’s the day when millions of children and adults will be dressing up as devils, witches and goblins to celebrate Satan.”
He added, “They don’t realize that’s what they’re doing.”

This isn’t the first time that the controversial televangelist has slammed Halloween, warning last year that many of the traditions associated with the holiday come from the Druids and are “demonic.”
“Halloween is a festival for demonic spirits. The whole idea of trick-o-treating is the Druids would go to somebody’s house and ask for money and if they didn’t get money they’d kill one of their sheep … that was the trick and it was serious stuff,” he said in 2014. “All this business about goblins and jack-o-lanterns and all that all comes out of demonic rituals of the Druids and the people who lived in England at that particular time.”

Robertson encouraged churches to take the holiday back by hosting parties on Halloween, if they so choose.
